Her other notable screen credits include One Take the Webseries (NSFTV), which she was part of the main cast that catapulted the video & content platform, NSFTV, to widespread attention.
Her notable stage credits include Titoudao- The 30th Anniversary Staging (Toy Factory), The New Alice (Focus Theatre), A Dream Under The Southern Bough – Existence (SIFA), I Have Something To Say (March On Children's Festival at the Esplanade), Fika and Fishy (Patch and Punnet), Running With Strippers (Cake Theatre), CATalysts (SRT), The Singapore Trilogy (The Secondbreakfast Company).
Effectively bilingual, Xuan also acts in Mandarin. She most notably had her feature film debut in 7 days (七天), which was the opening film for Singapore Chinese Film Festival 2023. She occasionally acts for primetime TV dramas on Mediacorp's channel 8, most notably playing Lynn/ 4788 in Soul Detective, Empress Dowager/ Belle in Stranger in the Dark as well as Paralympian Beatrice Lim in Hope Afloat. She was nominated in the Most Popular Rising Stars category for Mediacorp's 2024 Star Awards.
Indie films have always been where she shines best, and playing Elaine in If They Can’t Be Loved left an indelible mark on her, both in her life and in her growth and career as an actor, as she saw how sensitive writing and directing with empathy can really make all the difference in the world. She subsequently won her first Best Actress award for that role.
In recent years, she has been actively turning in consistent performances for Singapore-produced indie shorts. Most notably, she was nominated for Best Performance for her role as Jasmine in Thank You, Daisy, for the 35th Singapore International Film Festival. In the same year, she was also nominated for Best Performance for her roles in Trilingual Education Programme and Alive, two different shorts entered in the Singapore Youth Film Festival 2024. Trilingual Education Programme subsequently took home Best Short Film that year.
Occasionally, Xuan writes and directs as well. Feel free to reach out if you want to know more!
In a world so fractured, she remains unabashedly hopeful at the heart of her art-making.
Xuan believes in being a fiercely unapologetic conduit for all lives whom she is tasked to represent onstage and onscreen.
